- Recovering from Traumatic Brain Injury
Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis
Psychotherapy and psychoanalysis are shared, collaborative efforts leading to an improved sense of well-being
and effectiveness in work and personal relationships. We work together on problem-solving and building strengths and skills. And we identify and find better solutions to internal conflicts that stand in the way of your peace of mind, effectiveness and satisfaction in life.
The type and scope of treatment are determined by, among other factors, the nature of your problems,
as well as your goals and motivation.
Psychotherapy can be brief and oriented to problem solving. Or it can, as in longer-term psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, more comprehensively address deeper, long-standing issues that result in repeated frustration and disappointment in work and personal relationships. Often, difficulties arise when life circumstances change and the old solutions no longer work, or become self-defeating, but we continue to apply them anyway.
"When people experience traumatic events as children, they often have difficulty connecting the threads of their life as adults. It's as if their own timeline is broken, their very continuity. Simply put, psychoanalysis helped me see my whole self and live more parts of my self. Importantly, by healing that estrangement from myself and by helping me to come to terms with my powers and limitations, psychoanalysis helped me take more responsibility for my life which has had significant benefits in both my professional work and my personal relationships."
